The Joker

A still from a scene of The Joker. (Image credits: Google)
This poem has been sitting in my draft. I decided to polish it a bit and voila! Ready to be read. This is something I wrote when I saw The Joker and reflected upon how he transformed from a man who was mentally unstable to the brutal villain that he's known as in the Batman movies. For those of you who haven't yet watch the movie, please do. It really is a masterpiece, albeit in a disturbingly devastating and haunting manner.

I wear a mask,
I wake up, brush my teeth,
Wear my mask,
and the sun shines.
I wear a mask,
My reality hides behind it,
and if everyone can only see...oh, forget it!
Just as long as I look fine.
I wear a mask,
Tra la la...
Always smiling, singing and laughing,
For all but mine.
