The 'WEAKER' sex

Social norms have a way of dictating life, making certain things more difficult than it actually is. Women are usually the unsuspecting victims to suffer from the expectations of societies that abide strictly by social norms or also known as traditions.

The tendency to believe in outright ridiculous, illogical superstitions worsens the already bad situation. From birth, females in some countries are expected to grow into a dainty, polite, soft spoken, dilligent maid and child birthing machine; and in some places, she is also expected to act dumb.

Women are called the 'WEAKER' sex because most of us can't fight men physically. The one who invented this term obviously has a blatant disregard for child birth, raising children, managing a household, menopause, menstruation, hormonal changes and many other physical obstacles a woman has to go through during her time on earth.

The unfair condition that some females are subjected to, have given birth to feminists; who strive to make the world a better place for women; who shouts freedom in the face of chauvinistic men.

They have done much good in this world and I'd like to thank them for it. But wait, there's another group of women who also call themselves feminists; but one has to wonder sometimes are they truly that which they admit to?

See, so many females call themselves feminists and that's really important; to be able to distinguish yourself as a woman who fights for the rights of other women. But, when fighting for rights turn into tirades of emotional outbursts, it makes some intolerant men think that all of us are just hormonal pieces of meat. Can anyone blame them for not trusting the female population with important matters like ruling a country? I mean, I'm all for my kind ruling a country or countries (even better). But, come on before some of us can even try to do that ; we need to rise up and speak up against the ones who are preaching and waging a war against the definition of feminism - the ones who proudly call themselves a feminist.

Rather than becoming crazy over matters, and going on and on saying that everything that has been done towards womankind is unfair. Why don't we (with calm resolve) come up with a solution for the problems that we are fighting to solve? I'm pretty damn sure Queen Elizabeth II did not rule Great Britain and the Commonwealth realms with emotion. Look at the successful female rulers these days; and ask ourselves what these ladies are doing that makes people place so much trust in them? Ultimately, we can only be respected if we learn to respect ourselves as women, to guard our modesty and to not bow down to social norms that mostly have been set by men for us.

I have daughters and nieces, and I hope that one day, just maybe, one day when they are all grown up; they would not have to face disrespect by men in anyway. I hope this for all females. Xxx
